The Last Full Tank

So today is payday…yay! And I just got back my deposit from my old apartment…double YAY!!! Unfortunately, none of this money is going to anything fun or cool. Yesterday I had $20 to my name, so it all gets thrown on bills. Boo!

I was at the bank depositing a check, and my gas light came on. For probably the past year I have been putting gas in my car in $10-$20 increments. Today, I splurged, I treated myself to a full tank of gas. Sadly, this will probably be my last full tank. $3.71 a gallon…ouch! And by the time summer hits, it’s supposed to be over $4. Insane. I will never be able to afford a full tank again until Yolanda Vega gives me a check.

I feel so sorry for people that have to commute to work. How the hell do you afford it??!! I’m fortunate enough to live a mile away from work and Wegmans, and I’m still poor. How can you afford to live if you live several miles from work? And the guy in front of me at the gas station was driving an expedition…how do you afford to fill that bad boy up? It blows my mind.

If your kids are hungry, or your house is falling apart, or your bills are going unpaid as every dime is added to the gallon…share some misery with me…

I so agree with you. My husband and I have 4 kids ages 13, 12, 4 & 3. I am a stay at home mom (can’t afford to work - LOL), besides I like to be home with my kids. Anyways, my husband works about 35 miles from home. We had to put our beat up suburban aside and buy a smaller car plus I have to drive a woody staion wagon now (talk about embarassing for my 12 year old popular daughter), so we could afford for him to go to work and get health insurance. We bought our house 3 years ago and we still are sleeping in the spare bedroom - our master bedroom is still our storage area. My 12 year old daughter (who thinks she is going on 21) is upset because I refuse to go to the mall and spend $30 or more on one shirt or one pr of pants, heck even panties are expensive up there. We had to move to the country just so we could grow a garden (I am no gardner), now we are growing fruit trees, strawberries, and many veggies. Pretty soon we’ll have to buy the cow, chickens & no way am I buying a pig. So you see, I know where you are coming from - we need to get the government to let us go get that darn oil in ANWR (go to ANWR@ORG). What the heck is stopping them? Ok Im done venting. Thank you for being yourself in the mornings.

I agree with you, this whole gas thing is reDONKulous. I feel like every single time I am at the gas pump there should be a loan officer there so I can afford the gas.
It is just insane how expensive the gas prices are. What I don’t understand is how you get your gas in the morning and lets say you pay 3.50 per gallon and you drive by that gas station again later on in the day and its 3.75. Wheres that gas that was 3.50?!?!?! and you know there was no truck there to fill the tanks. Its just so sad how bad we are getting ripped off on daily bases with gas and we have to sit there and smile while filling up!

BTW just want to say I love listening to your comments on the way to work, they always make me laugh, especially when you call someone a hooker or a skank :)
