My Eyes Suck

Seriously, they do. I went to the eye doctor yesterday and they confirmed that my aao_eye_visioncorrection_lasik_04.jpgeyesight sucks. I can’t see ANYTHING without contacts or glasses. I’ve been wearing glasses since 3rd grade, so I can’t even really remember a time where I wasn’t wearing contacts or glasses.

After I came home from the doctor yesterday I was telling Brody how if I wanted new glasses my lenses would be almost $400!! He suggested I get lasik. Hmmm…should I? I know it’s expensive, and I can’t afford it…but it would be cheaper in the long run since I have to buy contacts all the time…right? But I’m scared…it seems like it would hurt! Not only that…what if something goes wrong and they can’t correct it? Then it would be my own fault that my eyes are jacked up.

Who has gotten lasik? Would you reccomend it? I need opinions….

hey Amanda- I had it done 5 years + ago and it rocked! I was blind as a bat and just recently had to get a small prescription for driving/watching tv (as your eyes will continue to age/change even after surgery). I def think it is worth it- even if you do have to eventually get corrective lenses down the road :)

You will love it! my husband had it done and loves it! I work for one of the best ophthalmologists in town. His name is Dr. Tingley and you can get more information by calling 244-2580.

Amanda, you will be doing yourself a big favor by getting the surgery. I also was blind as a bat, I couldn’t see ANYTHING without my glasses or contacts. I also had been wearing glasses since the third grade, so I was more than ready to get rid of them. I am in my mid 40’s and I had the surgery 5 years ago and I am still very, very happy. I don’t need reading glasses yet, my vision is still 20/20, previously it was 20/blind! I went to Dr. Alan Robbins in Webster, but do yourself a favor and ask around, talk to different doctors, but most of all ask questions. Good luck to you and if you need any questions answered, I’ll be happy to talk to you!

My stepmom got it done, and she was very happy. I think you’re right; it would be cheaper in the long run, and as for your fear of the pain, they numb the eye, and you won’t feel more than pressure.

I’m looking into it (when i can afford it) because I also have to have my glasses on all the time. Without them, I’m blind. Legally blind? I don’t know. But, I can’t see much at all.

    I say go for it.

Amanda…..suck it up and just do. Do the math……you will save much more in the long run, and besides nobody likes people that wear glasses. They are always snooty, bitchy and tell you facts like “The human head ways 8 pounds”.
